It is so rainy here. The ground is like a soaked sponge that needs to be wrung out and every time I walk through the yard it feels as if I will sink into it. I am not sure why I don't take the "long way" around on the pavement :) So it has been raining for what feels like months but we've had some nice strong winds and that has been exciting. But also a little scary. One night I felt certain that with the ground so wet and the wind so strong a tree was bound to fall onto our house. I took these pictures at different times today while out....they really captured the day. I went on a major junk trip today and brought home bags of stuff that needs to be cleaned and readied for photos but for now I wanted to write and think about Thanksgiving coming next week. What are you doing? I am excited to have Oliver home for a few extra days. We may go to the parade downtown on Friday if the rain ever stops. I am going to see New Moon with my friend Stephanie, who introduced me to the books. I'd like to make some pumpkin bread pudding. Pull out the Christmas decorations. Watch Charlie Browns Thanksgiving. Yay for the holidays!

Rain, sometimes so annoying, but it sure made for some great photos! We had rain here in Boston this morning and it was a wet walk to the courthouse. This Thanksgiving we are going to (try to) cook a turkey for the very first time. We always went to dinner at my in-laws house, but they moved last year and we are now all alone. I am sort of looking forward to it, but I have a hard time cooking and handling meat, so I think Dave will be doing most of the bird work and I'll focus on the rest of it. If it doesn't work out we'll fill up on sides and watch Arrested Development episodes on dvd. Have a nice weekend.

It I didn't know better I'd say we live in the same city, gray and rainy! I'm excited for Thanksgiving even though it's not celebrated here and my daughter has school. We are searching high and low for a turkey and it's fixins. But we will have some kind of celebration and decorate for Christmas. I hope you and yours have a wonderful Holiday.

Love that last shot. As for your Thanksgiving plans, they read like a rather nice time. I've been listening to Christmas music for weeks on end already because nothing makes me so ridiculously happy. I can't wait for all of the old Christmas movies to start popping up and movie nights with blankets by the tree. :)

I love these pics of Portland- so beautiful and familiar. You capture it well!
Everything you mentioned for T-day sounds so good- very cozy. We are spending the day doing a "Turkey Trot" for charity in downtown Austin and then with M's family- lots of good food (I'm making chocolate pumpkin bread) football, jokes, and maybe the ritual family Monopoly game.
